Not in favour of banning firecrackers in temples: Goa CM Laxmikant Parsekar
PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today ruled out banning firecrackers in temples in the backdrop of Kollam tragedy and stressed instead on the need to spread awareness among people about fire-related accidents.

"Banning (firecrackers) is not the solution. There should be awareness," he said responding to a query whether his government is mulling ban on firecrackers in the wake of the Kollam temple tragedy in Kerala, which killed over 100 people and injured hundreds other.

The CM said imposing ban cannot be a solution.

"This is my pen. We use it for writing. One naughty boy uses it to injure the eye. Are we going to ban the pen?" he argued to emphasise his point.
