Not giving re-employment to judges may make them accountable: Indira Jaising

JAIPUR: Senior advocate Indira Jaising suggested today that judges can be made more accountable by not giving them re-employment.

Addressing a district convention of human rights body People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) here, Jaising laid stress upon bringing more transparency in the judiciary.

"Not giving re-employment, perhaps, would make the judges more accountable," she said at the event, which was attended by the members of the PUCL and rights activists.


The former additional solicitor-general also said the question of reservation would remain till untouchability remains in the society.

Senior counsel Anand Grover denounced the government's alleged interference with the judiciary in appointment of judges and said it was important to build a citizens' campaign to keep vigil about what was happening.

There should be absolute transparency in the functioning of the court, he added.
