CHENNAI: Justice R Balasubramanian, a former Judge of Madras High Court and part of 3-member inquiry commission set up by BCCI to go into charges against India Cements honcho and Board President N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, today said he had not dealt with cases concerning the company as a judge or a lawyer.

"Never, never, never. As a lawyer or judge, I have never dealt with cases of India Cements or AVM," he told reportes here.

Meiyappan hails from the AVM family which has been traditionally into film and TV serial production.

Balasubramanian declined to comment to questions concerning the probe ambit or whether embattled Srinivasan should quit his post.

Asked if the probe would be free and fair, he shot back "if you believe me as a free and fair person, I should be fair."

He declined to respond to other queries including the content and nature of the probe but added that he had since spoken to his "counterpart" in the panel, Justice T Jayaram Chouta, former Judge of the Karnataka and Madras High Court.

BCCI on Tuesday constituted a three-man inquiry commission, including the two retired High Court judges, to go into allegations against Meiyappan who has been arrested on charges of betting on IPL VI matches.

BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale is the other member.
