Guwahati: The ruling BJP said it is not behind an audio-visual campaign running in social media to counter the raging protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. It said the campaign is being carried out by “informed citizens” of Assam.

In the multimedia campaign a youth is seen telling a girl that Assam is going to be flooded with illegal immigrants and that there is a need to drive them out. Another person, apparently a senior resident of the locality, appears on the scene and rubbishes the claims, explaining how the legislation will make Assam more secure and protected in the future. BJP general secretary Dilip Saikia told ET, “BJP has not made any such audio-visual campaign. It is being carried out by informed citizens in greater interest of Assam.”
