Northeast region has witnessed 28 per cent growth in tax collections

In an official communique, Joshi said during the celebration of 158th Income Tax Day at Guwahati that during the current financial year, the department in Northeast India has also collected Rs. 1,564 crores out of budget target of Rs. 8,357 crores.

Joshi said, “It is every individual’s duty to contribute for the development of the country. If anyone is paying tax it comes back to him, as the money is used by the government for the welfare of the people of the country.”
L C Joshi Ranee, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Northeast India said that the region has witnessed 28 per cent growth in tax collections till June 30, 2018 over the corresponding period of financial year 2017-18, which is second highest in the country after Delhi.

In an official communique, Joshi said during the celebration of 158th Income Tax Day at Guwahati that during the current financial year, the department in Northeast India has also collected Rs. 1,564 crores out of budget target of Rs. 8,357 crores.

Joshi said that the net collection in the region during the financial year 2017-18 has risen to Rs 7,097 crores. India has collected more than Rs. 10 Lakh crore as tax in the last fiscal year.


Joshi said, “It is every individual’s duty to contribute for the development of the country. If anyone is paying tax it comes back to him, as the money is used by the government for the welfare of the people of the country.”
