Normal situation prevails in violence-hit Samba district
JAMMU: Curfew has been lifted from Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district, where 14 people, including 10 police personnel were on Thursday injured in violent protests over an alleged sacrilegious act.

"Curfew has been lifted from Samba district but section 144 of the CrPC is still in place," a police official said.

No untoward incident was today reported from any part of the district, the official said.

The Deputy Commissioner of Samba, Sheetal Nanda, yesterday met village heads and top leaders in the district, and appealed to them to maintain peace and harmony.

Nanda said prima facie no sacrilegious act had taken place in the district and no person suffered serious injuries.

Army staged a flag march yesterday in the wake of stone pelting incidents.
