Non-veg ban in Amritsar: Govt advisor says ‘Whole world doesn’t need to live by selling chicken’

Punjab's Aam Aadmi Party government has enforced a ban on the sale of non-vegetarian food, liquor, and tobacco in Amritsar's Walled City, declaring it a "holy city" along with Sri Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo. The move aims to preserve the spiritual heritage of Guru Ramdas Sahib, but has sparked concerns over livelihoods, affecting around 150 meat, tobacco, and liquor shops.Deepak Bali, Advisor to the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, defended the decision, stating, "The whole world doesn't need to live by selling chicken. If they work, they'll find work somewhere else.”
