Nominees for 2017 Delhi civic polls to be chosen by workers: Congress
Congress today announced that its candidates for the municipal elections due in 2017 would be decided by the party workers of a particular area and not by the leaders.

Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken announced this while attending the party's district workers' convention at Karol Bagh. A membership drive and IT Cell membership was also launched at the event.
"For Municipal Elections: the tickets would be decided not by leaders but by the workers of the area," Maken also said in a tweet.
According to a senior party leader, Congress is gearing up for the municipal elections and wants to devolve the decision regarding candidates to the party workers and members.
Meanwhile, during the convention, Congress members complained that, earlier, party leaders were not approachable and failed to address local issues.
"Maken assured that power would be given to the grassroots workers and tickets would be given to those who will be chosen by the block-level workers and members," a senior leader said.
