Commending Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh’s directions earlier this year to all state universities and universities to switch to traditional attire, the Nyas has urged all Central Universities also to follow suit.
The Nyas concluded its three day conference in Ropar on 29th May Inaugurated by RSS Akhil Bhartiya Sampark Pramukh Aniruddh Deshpande, the conference was presided over by Dinanth Batra, the National President of the Nyas.
“We have passed these two key resolutions. We will be sending our resolution on traditional attire to the HRD ministry, all the Governors and the Universities requesting them to adopt this as the Convocation dress code. For curriculum change, we will write to state governments, the HRD ministry as well as NCERT. We hope due action will be taken,” Atul Kothari, Secretary of the Shiksha Sanskriti Uthhan Nyas told ET. Expressing dismay that western attire is still in vogue at convocations across institutes even 69 years after independence, the Nyas has demanded that western attire be changed and traditional attire be brought in for the ceremonies.
Pointing to recent controversies about Bhagat Singh being misrepresented as a terrorist in some DU textbooks and the omission of Gandhi in Tripura textbooks, the Nyas has moved a proposal asking the Centre and state governments to immediately work at correcting these misrepresentations.
