No truck with Trinamool in name of secularism for stopping BJP: Brinda Karat
DHANBAD: CPI-M Politburo member Brinda Karat today ruled out any truck with Trinamool Congress in the name of secularism for stopping BJP in West Bengal or alliance between opposition parties at national level to replace NDA government at Centre.

Karat, who arrived here to accompany party candidates in nomination filing, said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's political credibility is at stake following Saradha Chit Fund scandal and activities of Bangladesh's banned organisation in West Bengal.

"New names involved in the scandal are surfacing daily. So she is talking about cooperation with CPI-M to divert the attention of people from scandal and terrorism," she said.

"It is she who brought BJP in West Bengal by holding hand but now is talking about fighting against communalism. There is no question of shaking hands with Trinamool Congress ever," she said.

Karat said that such types of scandals never occurred during 34 years of Left Front rule in West Bengal.

The CPI-M Politburo member also ruled out the possibility of alliance with different political parties at national level like 2004 to oust NDA government in New Delhi.

She also brushed aside the reports of differences between CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat and Politburo member Sitaram Yechury on any issue in the party.

"Decision is taken collectively after discussion. It was unanimously decided in 2009 to withdraw support from the then UPA government," she said.
