No separate trial against Amit Shah in Prajapati murder case: Supreme Court
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today quashed a second chargesheet, filed against former Gujarat Home Minister and BJP general secretary Amit Shah by the CBI, in connection with the Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case.

Amit Shah had challenged the second chargesheet and instead insisted that it should be tried as a supplementary chargesheet in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case.

A fresh chargesheet would have created problems for Shah as he would have run the risk of being arrested by the CBI.

Shah is an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh abduction and killing case. Sheikh and his wife were picked up by Gujarat police and were later killed.

Tulsiram Prajapati a third eye witness to the abduction was also killed in a fake encounter later.

The CBI had maintained that the two conspiracies were linked. So a top court bench headed by justice P Sathasivam directed that Shah be tried in both the cases together.
