No room for aspiration to contest RS poll: V Vaithilingam
PUDUCHERRY: Leader of the opposition in Puducherry Assembly and former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam today said his party Congress is numerically small with a strength of seven MLAs in the 30 member Assembly, it would be unwise to entertain any aspiration or talk that the party would contest the biennial poll.

Talking to reporters here he said Congress hoped that the ruling AINRC would field a just and fair candidate.

Alleging that there had been massive deletion of families from the list of ration cards in almost all the constituencies here he said that without giving proper notice before striking off the names the department of civil supplies and consumer affairs was deleting the names.

He also objected to the sudden modification in the system of disbursement of pension to the aged persons. All along the beneficiaries were getting the amount through banks. All of a sudden they were asked to turn up at the nearest anganwadi centres to get the assistance now.
