CHANDIGARH: Heat wave conditions continued to sweep swathes of Haryana and Punjab with maximum temperatures today again hovering between 41-44 degrees Celsius at most places, giving no respite to people.

Chandigarh braved yet another hot day today as the maximum temperature settled at 41.6 degree Celsius, up three notches above normal, the MeT Department report said here.

Hisar in Haryana was the hottest at 43.8 degree C, up two notches above normal while Bhiwani also sizzled at 42.6 degree C.

Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 41.5 degree C, up one notch above normal.

In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded 41.8 degree C, Amritsar 41.4 degree C, and Patiala 41.4 degree C.

According to the local MeT Department's forecast valid for next four days, light to moderate rain or thunder showers may occur at isolated places in the two states.
