Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Chief Secretary Assam has informed that no relaxation of on-going lockdown has yet been decided by the Government of Assam like opening of shops, beauty parlours etc. A decision in this regard will be taken only on 27 April, 2020.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs notification, in a notification late last night, facilitated the easing of lockdown with some riders. In rural areas, all shops, except those in shopping malls, were allowed to open. In urban areas, all standalone shops, neighbourhood shops & shops in residential complexes are allowed to open. Restrictions, however, were not lifted on markets/market complexes and shopping malls.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there will be a cabinet meeting on April 27 where the matter will be discussed. He stated that no lockdown relaxations have been made in Assam. "I urge everyone to wait till April 27," he added.
