LUCKNOW: The Yogi Adityanath government has put a stop to the use of red and blue beacons with immediate effect and has decided to cut back on security to VIPs.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at a presentation of different departments decided that the ban on the use of red and blue beacon lights will come into force from today itself, a government spokesman said here.

However, emergency services like fire brigade, ambulances, vehicles of armed forces and police will be exempted from the ban. The order was issued in view of a similar decision by the Union cabinet, the spokesman said.

Also, a decision has been taken to reduce the number of personnel of other forces deployed on VIP security duty, he said.
