No proposal to grant reservation to Gujjars: Government

NEW DELHI: Government today informed Parliament that there is no proposal to ensure benefit of reservation in jobs to Gujjar community of Rajasthan.

"There is no such proposal under consideration. However, 'Gujar, Gurjar' caste/community is included in central list of Other Backward Classes ( OBC) for the State of Rajasthan at Entry No 19," Minister of State in PMO V Narayanasamy told Lok Sabha in a written reply.

Gujjars in Rajasthan are demanding five per cent quota in state jobs.
