No proposal to allow images captured on phones to be used as primary evidence: Government

In a written reply, Union Minister of State for Law P P Chaudhary said there was "no proposal" to amend the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

Chaudhary was replying to the question whether the government had received any proposal to amend the Evidence Act to incorporate images and videos captured on mobile phones as primary evidence.
NEW DELHI: There was no proposal to amend the law to include images and videos captured on mobile phones as primary evidence for prosecution, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

In a written reply, Union Minister of State for Law P P Chaudhary said there was "no proposal" to amend the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

He was asked as to whether the government had received any proposal to amend the Evidence Act to incorporate images and videos captured on mobile phones as primary evidence, sufficient for prosecution.
