No probe into Sahara diaries case against PM Narendra Modi, says Supreme Court
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has refused to order a probe into the Sahara-Birla papers, which allegedly showed payoffs to several political personalities and high constitutional functionaries, including prime minister Modi.

The court said that it would not be just or proper to order an FIR on the basis of material which the tax settlement commissioner had rejected as inadmissible as evidence.

A bench comprising justices Arun Misra and Amitava Roy rejected a plea by NGO Common Cause for an SIT into the papers. The NGO was argued by activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
