No-one hurt as bomb rocks Norway embassy in Nepal

OSLO: A small bomb exploded in front of the Norwegian embassy in Nepal's capital Kathmandu, causing no injuries or property damage, the foreign ministry in Oslo said.

"No one was injured because it happened several hours after the embassy had closed," foreign ministry spokesman Anders Rikter told AFP yesterday, adding that local police had opened an investigation.

While no claim of responsibility was made, Rikter said a letter had been found suggesting that Norway's support for the peace process in Nepal could have been a motive.

The Nepalese government and Maoist rebels signed a peace accord in November 2006 that halted a conflict that had cost around 13,000 lives over 10 years.
