No new case in 54 districts across 23 states and UTs in last 14 days: Health Ministry

Outlining how the measures of social-distancing are yielding results on ground, the health ministry said that 54 districts across 23 states and UTs have seen no new case in the last 14 days. Our field-level action is yielding positive results. Along with Mahe in Puducherry, Kodagu in Karnataka too, has not registered any new case in the last 28 days, reiterated Lav Agarwal, health ministry.

The centre has also constituted a dedicated task force which will work primarily on vaccines and scientific testing. The task force will employ a collaborative approach and emphasize on identification of pathways for vaccine development, added Agarwal.

Commenting on covid infrastructure, the joint secretary said: "There are 755 dedicated hospitals and 1389 dedicated health care centers in the country, this takes the total dedicated facilities to 2144 - where severe or critical patients can be treated."


In order to facilitate the movement of stranded migrant labourer within the State/UT, the home ministry has issued detailed guidelines. These norms were issued to enable workers to return to their place of work within the state where they are located. However, they would be screened and those who are asymptomatic would be transported to their respective places of work, read the order.
