No more "VIP treatment"? AAP’s Satyendar Jain under 24-hour watch in Tihar jail

The Tihar prison authorities have kept AAP's Delhi minister Satyendar Jain under 24-hour watch after several videos of him getting "VIP treatment" in jail were circulated on social media. Currently lodged in jail number 7 at Tihar, Jain won't be able to use things like chairs, a table, and a bed cover, which were earlier provided to him, reported TOI.

The action was taken after a committee formed by the LG submitted its report. In November-December, several videos of Jain having "massages" inside his cell went viral on social media. Many inmates were also seen doing work for Jain. In the videos, it was seen that chairs, a table, and a bed cover were also placed in his cell.

In the report prepared by the committee, it was stated that other inmates in Tihar were forced to do the work for Jain. Following this, the jail administration removed all the perks Jain was enjoying, and he has now been kept under a close watch. Other inmates, too, have been instructed not to enter his cell for any work.


Recently, the former DG prisons, Sandeep Goel, was suspended by the ministry of home affairs after allegations about his alleged role in providing special treatment to Jain cropped up. Sources said Goel too had visited Jain's cell while he was lodged in the prison.
