No increased threat to Amarnath yatra this year: Omar Abdullah
SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has rubbished claims of a militant threat to the Amarnath yatra that begins on June 28 and said his government will take regular precautions with a multi-layer security grid.

The chief minister's Thursday remark on micro-blogging site Twitter comes days after the security set-up started making deployments over the Himalayan heights and took over part of the tourist infrastructure in Pahalgam at the peak of the tourist season.

The threat talks intensified after Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde confirmed a possibility saying "There is terror threat to Amarnath Yatra and all efforts will be made to ensure security of every pilgrim."

Omar disclosed details from the Unified Headquarters meeting that he presided on Wednesday and tweeted: "In fact, I asked a pointed question if the threats were higher than previous years and the answer was a categorical no".
