SILIGURI: The CPI(M) today said the expulsion of senior party leader Lakshman Seth would not have any impact in the party.

The party had given Seth opportunities to rectify his ways, but he had not done so, CPI(M) West Bengal secretary Biman Bose said here today.

Seth, a rebel CPI(M) leader who was the face of the party during the Nandigram movement, was expelled yesterday, a day after he praised Trinamool Congress president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

He had also attacked the party leadership especially Politburo member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee whom he had termed authoritarian.

On the allegation of the Trinamool Congress that CPI(M) was trying to divide West Bengal, Bose said TMC forgot that 42 party workers were killed in their effort to keep the state intact.
