NEW DELHI: Parliament could not function on Tuesday like earlier, with the treasury benches demanding a discussion on Congress' alleged links with US investor George Soros and Congress seeking a discussion on the Adani issue.

The Lok Sabha failed to transact most of its business as the House adjourned for the day at noon following protests from the ruling parties and the Opposition.

Parliamentary affairs minister Kiran Rijiju said: "Congress members are continuously obstructing the House. They should apologise for their conduct and also apologise for their links with George Soros".

Outside Parliament House, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said: "The only reason they are doing this is because they don't want to discuss the Adani issue." Congress MPs also held a protest outside Parliament on the Adani issue, this time holding blue cloth bags with stickers of the PM and Adani.

Meanwhile, AICC spokesman Pawan Khera claimed Shamika Ravi, as advisor to the PM and a secretary of GoI, had received a grant from Open Society Foundation funded by Soros.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar held a meeting with Leader of the House JP Nadda, Congress leaders Pramod Tiwari, Jairam Ramesh and DMK's Tiruchi Siva in his chamber. The meeting was an attempt to end the deadlock between the two sides. However, a consensus was not reached.
