No going back on Telangana decision: Congress

"No decision (of such nature) I know. Modalities are on" for formation of a separate state, party spokesman Bhakt Charan Das told reporters.

NEW DELHI: Congress today dismissed suggestions that a move was on to rollback the decision on Telangana.

"No decision (of such nature) I know. Modalities are on" for formation of a separate state, party spokesman Bhakt Charan Das told reporters.

He was responding to a question that some Seemandhra leaders are claiming that the party high command has had second thoughts on the decision on Telangana and was planning to rollback the decision.

The remarks of Das came close on the heels of Union Home Ministry preparing a note for creation of Telangana state which will be presented before the Union Cabinet once Congress president Sonia Gandhi returns from the U.S. and it gets a "political clearance".

Following a directive from Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, the Ministry officials prepared the cabinet note for creation of the new state, to be carved out of Andhra Pradesh, as per the constitutional provisions.
