No future for Third Front in politics: Uma Bharti

BHOPAL: Bhartiya Jan Shakti party national president Uma Bharti said here today that the Third Front in the country had a very bleak future as most of its leaders were "facing corruption charges".

Bharti told the media that none of the leaders of the so called Third Front had a moral right to raise any public issue of some importance.

She said that Vishwanath Pratap Singh had become Prime Minister in the late eighties because he had the courage and moral authority to talk of corruption.

Similarly, she said, H D Deve Gowda could be criticised for many things but no one could ever doubt on his honesty.

Bharti said that the condition of Indian politics was very pathetic as there was no single issue which could sway the popular mind.

She said this was to be expected in a country where the Congress, the BJP and the Samajwadi Party had almost the same views on the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.
