No fresh incident in violence-affected areas of Kokrajhar: S N Singh

The army and police are keeping a strict vigil in Assam's Kokrajhar and Chirang districts where 17 persons have been killed in group clashes since July 20.

KOKRAJHAR (ASSAM): The army and police are keeping a strict vigil in Assam's Kokrajhar and Chirang districts where 17 persons have been killed in group clashes since July 20.

BTAD IGP S N Singh said there was no fresh incident so far in the violence-affected areas where night curfew was in force.

The violence had yesterday spread to Chirang district from Kokrajhar with two persons being shot dead in attacks and counter-attacks by Bodos and minority immigrants.

Additional forces have been rushed to the affected areas.
