No firing by Pakistan along International Border in Jammu

JAMMU: An uneasy calm prevailed today along the 192-km long International Border in Jammu region as there has been no firing by Pakistani troops since yesterday morning.

"There has been no firing from Pakistan overnight till now. The borders are calm", Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar said.

There was no firing or mortar shelling since 8 AM yesterday along International Border ( IB) and Line of Control ( LoC).

To review the arrangements of border camps, Minister of State, PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh also visited some camps in R S Pura.

"The morale of the people and troops is very high. They are fully backing action of the Narendra Modi for giving a befitting reply to Pak", Singh told reporters here.

The international border in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed heavy firing by Pakistani troops this month which has left eight persons dead and over 90 injured, including 13 security men.

Besides over 32,000 people have fled from their border homes leaving 113 hamlets deserted along the IB

The displaced people say they are too scared to return despite de-escalation in firing from across the border.
