No development model could be uniformly implemented, says Sushil Kumar Modi
The deputy Chief Minister said that Bihar's development model too is talked about as a success story and was also being emulated by some states.
"Whether it be Gujarat model of development or any other model, it cannot be implemented uniformly. All states have divergent issues and problems to deal with," Sushil Kumar Modi told reporters on the sidelines of a Janata Durbar at his official residence.
The deputy Chief Minister said that Bihar's development model too is talked about as a success story and was also being emulated by some states.
Pointing out that the 50 per cent reservation for women in the panchayati raj institutions in Bihar has been hailed as a positive step toward women empowerment, Modi said that even the Gujarat government emulated it.
Similarly, there were some aspects in the development models of West Bengal and Odisha which other states must implement, the senior BJP leader said.
On the likelihood of the Centre granting a Rs 12,000 crore special package for Bihar to tide over economic backwardness, Modi expressed doubt that the state may not receive this amount in its entirety.
He said that the Centre might announce more pre-poll sops and legislate on food security for all to woo voters ahead of the next general elections.
