No deadline to restore judges, says Zardari
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said Wednesday his party will restore the sacked judges but it will be done through a "parliament act" and he cannot give any deadline for it.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said Wednesday his party will restore the sacked judges but it will be done through a "parliament act" and he cannot give any deadline for it.
"I am not in a position to give deadline, but we will restore the judges through a parliament act and we cannot do it in a haste," Zardari told a press conference here after chairing a meeting of his party's executive committee.
The PPP's coalition partner Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Tuesday pulled out its ministers from the federal cabinet after the two parties failed to reach an agreement on restoration of more than 60 judges who were sacked by President Pervez Musharraf Nov 3 when he imposed emergency in the country.
Talking about difference with the PML-N, Zardari said he would still like to take along PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif "despite the fact that we can prove majority in parliament".With huge portraits of his slain wife and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, his father-in-law Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his son Bilawal in the backdrop, Zardari said he wanted to focus on providing shelter, food and security to the poor people, who need these badly.
"We are also concerned with such issues like restoration of judges, but we are really worried about unemployment, poverty and other issues," he said, hoping that Sharif's party will return to the coalition government.
He said he will not enter into any act that may destabilize the PML-N government in Punjab.
"We respect Sharif and are doing politics of reconciliation. We still will contact Sharif and will try to convince him," said Zardari.

In February, the two parties entered into an agreement that they will form a coalition government at the centre and will restore the judges in 30 days of the government formation. The deadline expired April 30. However, after talks in Dubai, the two leaders extended the deadline to May 12 which again they failed to meet.The PML-N pulled out its ministers but said it will continue to support the government and will not act as opposition in parliament. PML-N leaders openly accuse President Musharraf for trying spoil the coalition.
