No conclusive proof of use of Pegasus in devices, says Supreme Court after scrutinising report

A bench headed by the CJI scrutinised the report on Pegasus submitted by a court-appointed panel headed by former apex court judge, Justice R.V. Raveendran has filed a report.

The Supreme Court has observed that no conclusive proof has come out about use of Pegasus in 29 mobile phones examined by technical committee.

The report stated that five phones were found to be affected by some malware but it is not sure if it was Pegasus.

A bench headed by the CJI scrutinised the report on Pegasus submitted by a court-appointed panel headed by former apex court judge, Justice R.V. Raveendran has filed a report.


The Supreme Court, in its order passed on October 27, 2021, constituted a technical committee to enquire, investigate, and determine certain matters relating to the complaint of unauthorised use of Pegasus spyware.

The committee, report said, submitted that the government didn't cooperate in the probe.

It has also recommneded laws to protect citizens from illegal surveillance.
