No comments should be made on national anthem: Mamata Banerjee
KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today expressed displeasure over recent comments of Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh on national anthem saying no comments should be made on national anthem based on individual whims.

"The national anthem, national song, national flag, Constitution are sacred and the pride of our nation. No comments should be made on these just on an individual's whim," the Trinamool Congress supremo said in a statement.

TMC MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has asked the President to "initiate action" against Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh for his statements "denigrating" the national anthem.

Singh on Tuesday had said that the term 'Adhinayak' in the national anthem should be replaced with mangal claiming it praises the "Angreji Shashak" of pre-Independence period.
