No bus or train to Pak for now
The government on Friday temporarily suspended bus and train services to Pakistan in the wake of riots that have broken out there following the assassination of former prime minister and PPP leader Benazir Bhutto.
NEW DELHI: The government on Friday temporarily suspended bus and train services to Pakistan in the wake of riots that have broken out there following the assassination of former prime minister and PPP leader Benazir Bhutto. Among those affected are the Delhi-Lahore bus service, Samjhauta Express and the Munnabao-Khokrapar rail link.
The decision to discontinue the road and rail services until further notice was taken in the interest of safety of passengers as well as the trains. According to a railway ministry release, the Pakistan railways have been duly informed.
A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Friday evening also took stock of the situation in the wake of ongoing violence and arsoning in Pakistan’s towns by PPP sympathisers.
At least 30 people have been killed in the riots and property worth lakhs damaged.
