No Bharat Ratna for Sachin Tendulkar?

NEW DELHI: Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar may not receive the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna this year as the legend's name does not feature in the list of names proposed by the sports ministry.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI) did not recommend Sachin's name despite appeals from all quarters for the prestigious award for the cricket legend.

Sports minister Ajay Maken said the ministry has not received any recommendation form the cricket board for Bharat Ratna.

The names forwarded to the PMO by the sports ministry include hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand and mountaineer Tenzing Norgay.
