No alliance with Congress in Lok Sabha polls: AIUDF
GUWAHATI: Opposition party in Assam, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the ruling Congress in the Lok Sabha polls next year.

Political analysts have pointed that if the alliance between the Congress and AIUDF does not materialize, BJP stands to gain as the minority votes will split. Perfume Baron Moulana Bradrudin Ajmal led AIUDF has strong base among the minority community and had stunned everyone when its seat tally increased from 10 in 2006 to 18 in 2011 assembly, gobbling up substantial Congress support base among the Muslims in lower Assam districts.

Since its formation in 2006, AIUDF has not tied up with any party. Ajmal is the only MP from the party and party is supporting UPA in the Center. Speculation about the possible alliance started gaining round after Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently inaugurated one of the building of an institute run by an NGO-Ajmal Foundation.
