NJAC-hit NDA government blocking appointments by stealth: Congress
NEW DELHI: The Congress has accused the Modi government with “pursing a confrontationist course with the judiciary,” after the Supreme Court struck down the National Judicial Appointment Commission ( NJAC), and “blocking judicial appointments by stealth”.

“Never before in recent history has the executive-judiciary relationship been in tatters as now. And the Congress party squarely puts the blame for this on the Modi government. The Centre has unleashed several degrees of innuendoes sarcasms, open criticism of court judgments, a saga of noncooperation with the judiciary bordering on obstructionism and frequently peppered with intemperate comments,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said.

Linking the government attitude to the ‘National Judicial Appointment Commission’ issue, Abhishek Singhvi said, “whether one agrees or disagrees with the NJAC, once the Supreme Court has spent a year of confrontational and torturous arguments and come out with a judgment overruling the central government objections, there has to be a quietus.”
