Nitish Kumar's Vyapam dig to fight PM Narendra Modi's no-shame barb
PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar targeted PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday for the PM's "no shame" barb over the sting video of JD(U) minister Awadhesh Prasad allegedly accepting a bribe.

"Rattled by imminent defeat in Bihar, Modiji was forced to muster courage and talk of corruption that wasn't in his discourse since Lalitgate and Vyapam," Kumar said in a tweet.

"We have seen what he has done on Lalitgate and Vyapam. But, when was the last time Modiji practised what he preached?" Kumar said in another tweet.

The CM made his comments against the backdrop of Modi's "no shame" swipe at leaders of the grand alliance at rallies in Jehanabad and Bhabua on Monday . After the video went viral, Kushwaha quit and the party cancelled his candidature from Pipra seat.

Upping the counter-attack, Nitish also accused Modi of not taking action against his cabinet colleague Giriraj Singh from whose Patna flat about Rs 2 crore was recovered in 2014 during the Lok Sabha elections.

Chief spokesman of JD(U) Sanjay Singh accused the BJP of protecting Giriraj Singh. "Why is BJP not taking action against the Union minister?" Singh asked.

Meanwhile, Jehanabad district magistrate Manoj Kumar Singh on Tuesday sought an explanation from the two RJD candidates allegedly caught taking money in a sting operation. The DM said based on the video available with his office, a showcause notice was issued to both candidates. "We need to investigate the video and the conversation from all possible angles before an FIR is lodged," said the DM.
