Nitish Kumar 10.0: CM oath today, BJP bags both Dy CM posts

Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Bihar’s chief minister for the 10th time on Thursday at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, with BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha set to take charge as deputy chief ministers.

Nitish Kumar will take oath as Bihar's chief minister for the 10th time at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday. BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha will be the two deputy CMs.

Earlier in the day, Samrat Choudhary was elected as leader and Vijay Kumar Sinha as deputy leader of the BJP legislative party in Patna. The meeting of the BJP legislative party took place in the presence of all the BJP MLAs and central BJP observer Keshav Prasad Maurya and co-observers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Niranjan Jyoti.

After the BJP meeting, the JDU legislative party meeting was held where Nitish Kumar was elected as leader of the JDU legislative party.


A meeting of NDA legislators was held at the Central Hall of the state assembly where Nitish Kumar was elected as leader of the NDA. The proposal for the leader of NDA was moved by JDU's Vijay Choudhary and seconded by BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. MLAs of the LJP(RV), HAM and RLM also seconded the proposal.

Later, Kumar along with Samrat Choudhary and other NDA leaders, met Bihar governor Arif Mohammad Khan at the Raj Bhawan and tendered his resignation and staked claim to form the government. Leaders from all the NDA constituents were present at the meeting.

All preparations have been completed for the swearing-in ceremony. Two stages have been prepared for all the guests.

NDA has prepared for a grand show of strength with several bigwigs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several union ministers and the chief ministers of 11 states expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP president JP Nadda, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and several other CMs are also expected.
