Nitish Kumar decries Shiv Sena remark on Muslims voting rights

PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today decried Shiv Sena's controversial remark on scrapping voting rights of Muslims saying it was impossible.

"Yah namumkin hai (this is impossible)," Kumar told reporters when asked for his reaction on Shiv Sena controversial comment.

"The country will run as per the Constitution and not on the whims of any individual," he said.

The nation has a Constitution, which enumerates rights and duties of citizens, on the basis of which affairs of the country was being run, Kumar said.

Ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra had yesterday made a controversial statement by demanding withdrawal of voting rights of Muslims in order to prevent the community from being used as a vote bank.

An editorial in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' had also likened the All India Majlis-e-Ittihadul-Muslimeen (MIM) and Owaisi brothers to "poisonous snakes" who spew venom to "exploit" the minority community.
