Nitish government total failure on all fronts: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav

PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today accused the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar of being a total failure on all fronts and said the resentment was brewing among the people over "rampant corruption" in the state.

"The people of Bihar want to be rid of the corrupt and ineffective NDA rule," Prasad told newsmen here.

Stating that he had decided to maintain silence for six months since RJD's defeat at the hands of NDA in the state assembly polls, he said, "We gave a chance to the government to live upto the people's expectations ...The state government has failed to keep promises made to the people at the time of elections."

"Now the time has come to highlight the misdeeds of the government... Large-scale irregularities have been detected in allotment of land by Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority ( BIADA) to relatives of state ministers and bureaucrats at throwaway prices," he said.

Irregularities were also detected by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in non-reconciliation of Abstract bills through which withdrawals of thousands of crores of rupees had taken place during the NDA rule.

"We will continue our agitation to press for a CBI inquiry into BIADA land allotment irregularities, besides other issues related to corruption, scams and scandals in Bihar," he said.

Prasad said he would tour all villages of the state after the end of monsoon session of Parliament to highlight the alleged failures of the state government, rampant corruption in execution of schemes and scams.
