Nishikant Dubey's stunning claim, links Rahul Gandhi to US lawmaker Ilhan Omar; alleges conspiracy to destabilise India
Jharkhand: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Thursday accused the opposition of working with foreign forces to destabilise India through street protests. He also asked Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi to explain whom he meets during his visits abroad.

Speaking at a press conference in Dumka, Dubey claimed that foreign organisations and individuals were trying to fuel protests in India to bring about a change of government. He alleged that the Congress leadership was working with such elements. He did not present any independently verified evidence for these claims.

"All these people, whoever is in the leadership of the Congress party, whoever the opposition is, are all working together with foreign powers to not change the regime, but to break the country," Dubey said.

Dubey questioned Gandhi's overseas engagements and alleged that the Congress leader had met people who, according to him, were working against India's interests.

"I said in Parliament that under the guise of the Soros Foundation, he meets Ilhan Omar and Ro Khanna," Dubey said, referring to the two US lawmakers. He had made similar allegations against Gandhi in the Lok Sabha in December 2024.

He then put a series of questions to the Congress. He asked which people linked to American millionaire Neville Roy Singham, to online gambling cartels, and to the artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency industries Gandhi had met in the past five years. Singham has been named in a Delhi Police FIR in the NewsClick case and has denied the allegations against him.

Dubey also asked which of these people had joined Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra or similar journeys. He wanted to know whom Gandhi meets abroad and what plans are made at such meetings to destabilise the country. He further asked whether Congress leader Sam Pitroda had any role in the alleged conspiracies.

The BJP MP referred to US congressional documents that, he claimed, discussed foreign influence, protests and technology-related concerns. He alleged that cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence and online gambling could be used by foreign actors to influence political movements in India.

"The future ahead is of artificial intelligence, to destroy the entire world's economy there is cryptocurrency, and the third is online gambling," he said, adding that these areas needed closer scrutiny.

Dubey defended the government's approach on the issue. He said online gambling had been banned and that cryptocurrency did not have legal tender status in India. The government had taken steps to deal with concerns around both, he added.

Dubey also targeted the ongoing protests in Delhi. He criticised the demonstrations at Jantar Mantar and alleged that protesters were disrupting public life.

His remarks came after Delhi Police summoned Cockroach Janata Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. A Special Executive Magistrate court had released them from judicial custody on personal and surety bonds and written undertakings to maintain peace and follow the law.

The two leaders were detained in connection with an October 13 protest at Jantar Mantar. Delhi Police had denotified the site as a designated protest venue two days earlier. Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar issued a standing order on October 11, according to a PTI report. It named Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi as the new designated sites.

Das called the decision "unacceptable". According to PTI, the party's leaders reached Jantar Mantar on October 13 to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had criticised the denotification, accusing the government of restricting democratic protest, ANI reported.

Dubey, who is the MP from Godda, raised concerns over demographic changes in Jharkhand's Santhal Pargana region. The region covers Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Sahibganj and Pakur districts. He alleged that illegal immigration from Bangladesh had changed population patterns there. The BJP has repeatedly raised the issue against the Jharkhand government, which is led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

He also said that opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was politically motivated.

Dubey maintained that elections, and not protests, were the right way to change a government. He said his party would take its arguments to the people.
