NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at the premises of its own SP and seized cash Rs 5 lakh and 3 mobile phones in connection with its probe into the alleged role of an ex-ADC of Governor Nirvikar Singh.

The agency had registered an FIR against Singh last month when he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15 lakh in the name of a CBI officer from a businessman.

Major Nirvikar Singh was the former ADC of the former Punjab Governor, General SF Rodrigues and had remained on coveted positions in Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW).

The agency was probing the role of a CBI officer in whose name the bribe was demanded and zeroed on the role of its own officer. The agency also questioned the SP who is believed to have admitted that he was in constant toucg with Singh and has helped him on earlier occasion.

In its FIR, CBI alleged that a bribe of 30 lajkhs was demanded in the name of SP for facilitating undue favour in the trial of a case of fraud pending against the businessman.

Singh is also an accused into a disproportionate asset case which is pending investigations for past many years.
