Nine people die of electrocution in Odisha bus mishap

Nine people died on Sunday when the bus they were travelling in came into contact with an 11 KV live electric wire in near Berhampur, Odisha. Another nine were moved to the Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College in Cuttack while eighteen, not seriously injured, were being treated at the local hospital in Berhampur.

The bus hired for an engagement ceremony caught fire when it came into contact with the live wire. Berhampur Superintendent of Police, Pinak Mishra told ET an FIR has been filed. "The bus was a taller, double decker that shouldnt have been plying through this village road in the first place.

We have also asked SOUTHCO (Southern Electricity Supply Company Of Odisha) to investigate how the KV wire could have come into contact with the bus," said Mishra.
