Nine Naxals nabbed in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division

RAIPUR: Nine Naxals were arrested in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division today while the `martyrs week' announced by the ultras hit normal life in the area.

Seven Naxals were arrested within Dhaudai police station limits in Narayanpur district when they were putting up posters and banners early this morning, Narayanpur Additional Superintendent of Police O P Sharma told PTI.

A joint team of Central Reserve Police Force and district police were carrying out combing operations in Dhaudai forests, 400 km from here, when it spotted the Naxals near Maharabeda.

The Naxals were putting up posters, banners appealing to the people to observe the 'martyrs' week'. The arrested Naxals are: Ghanriam Salaam (25), Bajju alias Dhallar (40), Shankar Salaam (20), Sheetu Sori alias Kamlesh (22), Shankar Netam (26), Lachhan Salaam (25) and Roopji (28), all natives of Dudmi village, the ASP said.

Pamphlets, posters and banners were seized from them. These men were allegedly involved in murders, acts of arson, attacks on police, etc, he added. Baju was carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head while Shankar and Roopji were carrying rewards of Rs 5,000 each on their heads.

Another two Naxals were arrested in Kanker district of north Bastar. Chamar Singh Boga (30) was held from Bhanupratappur region while Shivlal Dugga was arrested in Siksod police station limits today, Kanker Superintendent of Police R N Dash said.
