Nine books by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee released in Kolkata Book Fair
Banerjee has also written a book on intolerance. Her books in Bengal include a book written on her flagship scheme –Kanyashree, a scheme for the empowerment girls in rural Bengal.

“I am a small person, but I have a request to the authors and poets sitting here. All of you are the guards of literature, culture and history. I will appeal to you to protect these. Do not allow anybody to distort history and tarnish the image of the country,” said Banerjee, while inaugurating the book fair. Banerjee has also written a book on intolerance. Apart from these books, Banerjee has also released three books written by three IPS officers. These three books include a book on the murder mysteries investigated by the detective department of Kolkata Police in last five decades written by Supratim Sarkar, additional commissioner of Kolkata Police, a collection of 100 Urdu poems by Murlidhar Sharma, DC, Special Task Force of Kolkata Police and a book on the evolving social life and relations between Hindus and Muslims in rural Bengal by Humayun Kabir, DIG, Traffic, Bengal police.
