NGT asks Numaligarh Refinery to pay Rs 25 lakh for environmental damage
GUWAHATI: National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked the Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) to pay environmental compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to the Assam forest department for causing environmental damage by destruction of forest cover and flattening of the hill to build the golf course.

The tribunal order asked the refinery to demolish the wall with barbed wire fencing which "comes in the way of elephant corridor."
