Director General of Assam police, Khagen Sarma on Wednesday said, “We have kept under scanner some NGOs for receiving donation from unauthorized person and receiving unaccounted money.”
He added, “Investigations are on to unearth the Jihadi network in the state. We have got some links in the case and we are working on it. The Jihadi networks can take help of the Madrassas, organizations and NGOs.”
Police and NIA sleuths are haunting for Shahnur Alom, one of the 12 main accused of the Burdwan blast on October 1 last in Guwahati.
NIA had announced Rs 5 lakh for information about Sahanur, who is absconding from last month from his residence at Chatala village in Assam’s Barpeta district.
His wife Sujina Begum was arrested in Guwahati last week. Sarma said, “We are searching for him in Assam. He is frequently changing position from one location to other. He at times moves in remote areas.”
The DGP added, “Our information says he should be in Assam or nearby areas.” He confirmed that Shaktipeeth of Kamakhya temple and state secretariat and other vital government offices are targets of the Jehadi terror outfit.
An NIA team visited the Dhubri district in Assam and met the district Superintendent of Police. Dhubri in Assam shares border with Bangladesh.
