Newspaper employees to go on one day strike for wage revision
The Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organisations today said a one day token strike will be observed on May 18 to protest against the non-implementation of the Majithia Wage Boards recommendations.
The decision was unanimously adopted at the executive meeting of the Confederation of Newspapers and News Agencies Employees Organisations (CNNAEO) held here today.
"The employees of the newspapers and news agencies will observe a one day strike to protest against the non-implementation of the Wage Boards recommendations even after the notification by the Government on November 11, 2011," CNNAEO General Secretary MS Yadav said.
It was most unfortunate that the just demand for wage revision of the employees is not being met despite the fact that the last wage revision was done 14 years ago, he added.
The confederation meeting was attended by Madan Talwar, Santosh Kumar of AINEF, Rajendra Prabhu of NUJ(I), Madan Singh, KB Pandit and SN Sinha of IJU, M L Joshi of UNI Workers Unions, President of Indian Express-Jansatta Union C S Naidu, General Secretary of Times of India Unions Roop Chand, Rajbir Singh and Ajay Tyagi of Federation of PTI Employees Unions and leaders of several other trade unions.
