NEW DELHI: News Broadcasters Association ( NBA) condemned the assault on journalists and cameramen, especially women journalists, who were reporting from Patiala House Court on Monday, February 15, when the President, JNU Students’ Union was to be produced before a magistrate. The press release stated that the attack took place by lawyers and others present in court premises who rained blows on the media persons present there.
A press release on the NBA letterhead, detailing the incident was signed by Annie Joseph, Secretary General, News Broadcasters Association.

According to the note, Rajat Sharma, President, NBA condemned the incident and termed it a cowardly attack meant to intimidate journalists carrying out their work in disseminating news and information, a service that is essential for any democratic society. Sharma stated that this was an attack on the freedom of the press and his association will take up this cause.
