Adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure law and order situation in the steel city and adjoining areas on the eve of New Year.

JAMSHEDPUR: Adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure law and order situation in the steel city and adjoining areas on the eve of New Year.

A large number of tourists from far flung areas of Jharkhand and adjoining state visit the steel city on the occasion New Year and the East Singhbhum district police was geared up to provide them security, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew.

Addressing a press conference here, Mathew said adequate forces have been deployed at sensitive spots including Dimna lake, which attracts large number of revellers.

Apart from videography, he said the district police have already launched a massive drive to apprehend anti-social elements, eve-teasers and detained over 180 persons.

The traffic police have also launched a drive against rash driving and drunk driving with breath analysers, he said.

Mathew said security arrangements would be in place for the next few days as tourists keep visiting the city for a good part of January.
